Join the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park on Tuesday, June 15 for a special Buffalo Navy Week virtual event with former Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. Secretary Mabus will highlight his experiences in the Navy as an officer aboard the cruiser USS Little Rock CLG 4, and as the 75th United States Secretary of the Navy.
In 2011, Secretary Mabus announced USS Little Rock LCS 9 would be the name of the next Freedom-class littoral combat ship, which was commissioned in Buffalo alongside the “old” USS Little Rock in 2017. It was the first time in the U.S. Navy’s 242-year history that a new ship was commissioned alongside its namesake.
