The Buffalo Naval Park will present a speaker series program with Dr. Steven Schwaitzberg, MD, FACS, at 6:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Dr. Schwaitzberg is Chairman and Professor of Surgery and Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He was professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School, chief of surgery at the Cambridge Health Alliance, and also served as professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in various capacities over the years.
Beginning his military career with the U.S. Army Reserves in 1987, part of his time in the service was spent in combat and other time was spent on humanitarian missions like road building. Dr. Schwaitzberg served as Surgical Chief at the 365th Evacuation Hospital in Oman in 1990-91 during Operation Desert Storm. He will speak about his experiences and the lessons learned in the service that continue to influence his life and career.
The program will begin at 6:00 PM in the Buffalo Naval Park’s Museum Building on the Second Floor. It is free and open to the public.
