A Buffalo Halloween Experience
on the Waterfront
Nightmare Wharf is Buffalo’s immersive waterfront Halloween experience at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park near Canalside. Guests can expect a large scale Halloween experience with haunted attractions, immersive walkthroughs, live actors, outdoor scare zones, themed environments, dramatic lighting, a fog heavy atmosphere, photo opportunities, and entertainment throughout the grounds, plus a full bar and gathering areas to regroup between attractions. Portions of the experience take place aboard nationally significant historic U.S. Navy vessels, creating a Halloween setting unlike a traditional haunted house.
Nightmare Wharf is wholly owned and operated by the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Ticket purchases and event proceeds help support the Park’s mission to preserve historic naval vessels and military artifacts, educate the public, honor veterans, and keep these important stories alive for future generations.

Halloween with a Purpose
Nightmare Wharf is more than a seasonal attraction. It is one of the ways the Buffalo Naval Park generates support for its year-round nonprofit work.
Revenue from Nightmare Wharf helps support ship preservation, military-history education, veterans programming, historic artifacts, and ongoing Naval Park operations.
The Park also provides many ceremonies, educational programs, and community events completely free to the public as part of that mission.

Visiting Buffalo Naval Park During the Day?
Nightmare Wharf is a special nighttime experience. The Buffalo Naval Park also welcomes visitors to explore its historic Navy ships, museum, exhibits, memorials, tours, and educational experiences during regular Park operations.

On November 1, Nightmare Wharf culminates with a one night only immersive experience designed for guests who want to go deeper. Participants may encounter extended scenes, closer performer interaction, and moments where they are singled out, separated, or drawn directly into the story.

Nightmare Wharf is a large scale nighttime Halloween event featuring multiple attractions, immersive walkthrough experiences, live actors, outdoor scare zones, themed photo ops, entertainment throughout the site, and a full bar on the waterfront. Portions of the event take place on nationally significant, protected historic U.S. Navy vessels, creating a one of a kind setting that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Yes. Nightmare Wharf is designed as an intense Halloween experience featuring darkness, fog, jump scares, unsettling environments, live performers, and high sensory impact moments throughout the campus.
The event is designed primarily for teens and adults and may be too intense for younger children. Parental discretion is strongly advised.

Yes. The Boneyard midway area features themed food, specialty drinks, gathering spaces, music, and roaming entertainment throughout the night. Additional food and beverage offerings will be announced throughout the season.
