On April 4, 1943, USS The Sullivans was launched and christened by Alleta Sullivan, the mother of the five Sullivan brothers, less than five months after they were killed in action at the Battle of Guadalcanal. On the 80th Anniversary, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 4, join the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park for a special event with members of the Sullivan family to honor the history and legacy of the ship and to recognize the people who have played an important role in its preservation.
