DESCRIPTION:Join the Buffalo Naval and Military Park’s Curator and Director of Museum Collections\, Shane Stephenson\, for a special behind the scenes tour of USS Little Rock\, the last remaining Cleveland-class cruiser in the world. \nThis tour will give an in-depth look at our ships as artifacts and highlight some of the challenges in preserving them for future generations. You’ll visit spaces aboard USS Little Rock and USS The Sullivans that are not available on any other tour\, while also getting an up close look at the main deck of PTF-17. \nEach tour will last approximately 2 hours and will be limited to 11 people. When touring most areas of the ship\, visitors should expect to traverse narrow passageways\, be able to step over significantly raised thresholds\, and climb up and down very steep ladders. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes\, closed-toe shoes\, and bring a flashlight. Due to the length of the tour and the spaces that will be visited\, this tour is not recommended for those under 11 years of age. \nCurator Tours will take place at 1:00 PM. \nClick here to purchase your tickets!

SUMMARY:LCDR Ralph C. Wilson\, Jr. Day
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate LCDR Ralph C. Wilson\, Jr.’s legacy and service at the Buffalo Naval & Military Park on Saturday\, October 19. There will be activities and giveaways for kids from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM\, and the Buffalo Naval Park will offer “pay what you wish” admission. \nRalph C. Wilson\, Jr. (October 17\, 1918-March 25\, 2014) served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the commanding officer of the minesweeper USS Picket. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres and navigated the first ship into Tokyo Bay after the atomic bomb had been dropped. \nHe later became a successful businessman and is best known as the founder and 54-year owner of the Buffalo Bills. In 2017\, his wife Mary Wilson generously donated her husband’s military uniform\, medals\, and letters he wrote to his dad while in service.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Halloween at the Buffalo Naval & Military Park! Wear your costume and “Ship-or-Treat” aboard USS The Sullivans\, USS Little Rock\, and USS Croaker to participate in family activities and collect Halloween goodies. Admission to the Naval Park is included in the ticket price. This event is designed for children ages 16 and under. \nThe Naval Park will be open from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM\, with last admission at 3:00 PM. The Ship or Treat activities will be available between 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. \nPlease purchase a Ship or Treat ticket only for those who wish to participate in the activities and Halloween goodies. All other guests can purchase a general admission ticket. All children ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. \nThe price is $12 for Members and $20 for Non-Members. Members can enter their membership number to receive the discounted Ship or Treat ticket online and/or show their membership ID upon arrival. \nWhen touring most areas of the ships\, visitors should expect to traverse narrow passageways\, be able to step over significantly raised thresholds\, and climb up and down very steep ladders. If you choose to wear a costume\, please ensure that it is family friendly and fits properly to help prevent trips and falls. Please avoid items such as oversized shoes\, high heels\, and long capes.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Twilight Zone marathon featuring four military-themed episodes: The Thirty-Fathom Grave\, King Nine Will Not Return\, Deaths-Head Revisited\, and The Shelter. The screening will take place aboard USS Little Rock on Saturday\, October 26. Doors open at 5:00 PM\, and the episodes will begin immediately following a pre-film presentation at 5:30 PM. \nThis event is free to attend but a ticket is REQUIRED as space is very limited. \nPizza and movie-style concessions will be available for purchase. \nWe regret that due to the historical nature of the ships\, handicap access is limited.
