SUMMARY:Women in the Military Film & Lecture Series - Free & open to the public
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 27 from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo History Museum\, One Museum Court (Elmwood Ave. & Nottingham Terr.)\, Buffalo\, NY 14216 \nWomen have served in military roles for centuries in many cultures. However\, today in the United States and elsewhere\, controversy continues about the role of women in active duty and especially combat. Increasingly\, as well\, there has been a struggle to meet the post-service human and societal needs of women veterans that have been typically centered around men. \nJoin us for an informal but important conversation about women in the military\, presented by those who serve\, loved ones of those who serve\, and an agency that serves those who serve. Many thanks to female presenters from the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station \, Gold Star Mothers\, and Veterans One-Stop Center  for sharing their experiences. \nAfterward\, stay for the critically acclaimed and award-winning 2011 film “Return\,” the story of a female soldier’s return to family\, friends\, and old job after a tour of duty\, though she finds herself struggling to find her place in everyday life.
