SUMMARY:EVENT POSTPONED: 716 Celebrates: Stars\, Stripes & Signers
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: Due to the forecast for severe weather\, including heavy rain and the potential for thunderstorms and lightning\, Erie County and the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park have made the difficult decision to postpone tomorrow’s 716 Celebrates: Stars\, Stripes & Signers event. \nWhile we are disappointed to make this call\, the safety of our attendees\, volunteers\, vendors\, performers\, and staff must come first. We also want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to fully enjoy this special celebration. \nSave the date for Labor Day weekend on September 5 and 6 as we work to reschedule this event. Thank you for your understanding\, and we look forward to celebrating with you later this summer. \n  \n716 Celebrates: Stars\, Stripes & Signers transforms Buffalo’s waterfront into a full day patriotic festival experience honoring America’s 250th Anniversary. Made possible through the tremendous support and leadership of the New York State America 250 Commission and Erie County’s America 250 initiative\, the event reflects a major regional investment in history\, civic pride\, tourism\, and community celebration. \nCentered at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park\, the event blends live entertainment\, historical storytelling\, family activities\, military heritage\, food\, fireworks\, and immersive waterfront programming into one of the region’s signature summer celebrations. \nDesigned as a district wide activation\, the event encourages visitors to explore Canalside\, the Waterway of Change: Complex Legacies of the Erie Canal exhibit\, the Buffalo Heritage Carousel\, Explore & More Children’s Museum\, waterfront dining\, museum ships\, and community partner experiences throughout the day and evening. Guests will encounter historical reenactors representing eras from the American Revolution through the Cold War\, major educational exhibits including Seat of the Empire: Paths Through 250 at the Buffalo Naval Park\, live cultural performances\, and a headline concert by Avalanche\, the official rock band of the 10th Mountain Division. \nThe evening concludes with a major waterfront fireworks spectacular produced by Skylighters\, creating a seamless celebration of history\, community\, and national pride on Buffalo’s iconic waterfront. \n

SUMMARY:Behind the Scenes Curator Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the Buffalo Naval and Military Park’s Curator and Director of Museum Collections\, Shane Stephenson\, for a special behind the scenes tour of USS Little Rock\, the last remaining Cleveland-class cruiser in the world. \nThis tour will give an in-depth look at our ships as artifacts and highlight some of the challenges in preserving them for future generations. You’ll visit spaces aboard USS Little Rock and USS The Sullivans that are not available on any other tour. \nEach tour will last approximately 2 hours and will be limited to 11 people. When touring most areas of the ship\, visitors should expect to traverse narrow passageways\, be able to step over significantly raised thresholds\, and climb up and down very steep ladders. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes\, closed-toe shoes\, and bring a flashlight. \nDue to the length of the tour and the spaces that will be visited\, the Curator tour is for ages 11 and older. \nCurator Tours will take place at 1:30 PM. \nClick here to purchase your tickets!
