USS The Sullivans will remain closed as work continues to preserve and maintain the ship. Purchase your tickets for a self-guided tour by clicking here. The community is welcome to join us and the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Sullivans Division for a lunchtime Memorial Day cookout at the pavilion in our Monuments Garden. In traditional picnic style\, hot dogs will be available for purchase. We are proud to be hosting a number of ceremonies and events throughout the weekend. One Life – One Flag Installation May 28 – 30 \nThroughout Memorial Day weekend\, 7\,300 flags will blanket the grounds of the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park to represent the average number of United States Veterans who have lost their battle with PTSD per year\, an average of 22 per day. From May 28-30\, walk or drive by the Naval Park to see the installation.  \nFor a $22 donation\, you will receive one of the flags from our Memorial Day weekend salute along with a certificate. The designation of April 13 as National Borinqueneers Day recognizes the bravery\, service\, and sacrifice of the 65th Infantry Regiment\, a U.S. Army unit that consisted mostly of soldiers from Puerto Rico. DESCRIPTION:Join the Buffalo Naval & Military Park’s Curator and Director of Museum Collections\, Shane Stephenson\, for a special behind the scenes tour of USS Little Rock. \nThis tour will give an in-depth look at our collections and highlight some of the challenges in preserving these important artifacts for future generations. Visit spaces on board the USS Little Rock that are not available on any of our other tours. \nEach tour will last approximately 2 hours and will be limited to 10 people. When touring most areas of the ship\, visitors should expect to traverse narrow passageways\, be able to step over significantly raised thresholds\, and climb up and down very steep ladders. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes\, closed-toe shoes\, and bring a flashlight. \nCurator Tours will take place at 1:00 PM. \nClick here to purchase your tickets!
