Purchase your tickets for a self-guided tour here.  \nWe are proud to be hosting a number of ceremonies and events throughout the weekend. \n\nOne Life – One Flag Installation May 29 – 31 \nThroughout Memorial Day weekend\, 7\,300 flags will blanket the grounds of the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park to represent the average number of United States Veterans who have lost their battle with PTSD per year\, an average of 22 per day. From May 29-31\, walk or drive by the Naval Park to see the installation. \nFor a $22 donation\, you will receive one of the flags from our Memorial Day weekend salute along with a certificate. DESCRIPTION:Join the Buffalo Naval and Military Park’s Curator and Director of Museum Collections\, Shane Stephenson\, for a special behind the scenes tour of the USS Little Rock. \nThis tour will give an in-depth look at our collections and highlight some of the challenges in preserving these important artifacts for future generations. Visit spaces on board the USS Little Rock that are not available on any of our other tours. \nEach tour will last approximately 2 hours and will be limited to 10 people. SUMMARY:Veterans Race
DESCRIPTION:Since 2012\, the Veterans Race\, presented by Destination Races and sponsored by GEICO\, has been honoring all who served and are currently serving in our military. This year\, their goal is to raise $15\,000 to support the Buffalo Naval & Military Park and Veterans One-Stop Center to Preserve. Protect. Honor all who served. \nThe 5K race is open to all\, civilian or military\, with special awards for top overall in each class. Run in honor of a veteran or as a military group. The race will be capped at 250 total participants on a flat course through Buffalo’s Naval & Military Park. \nEVENT TIMES: 9am\, 10am\, 11am\, 12pm\, & 1pm \nRunners will be given an event time based on predicted finish time. Maximum of 50 runners per event. Each event will start at the top of the hour.  Runners cannot switch event times. \nThe Post Race Party for 2020 is cancelled but runners will receive a hot meal To-Go featuring Pizza Logs and Crunch Rolls along with more food. \nLearn more and register here!

SUMMARY:Fall Family Photoshoot
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a unique backdrop for your family photos? We’re opening up some of our most popular spots at the Buffalo Naval & Military Park just for you! \nEach ticket includes one 20 minute appointment with a local photographer at multiple locations at the Park and at least 10 digital images emailed to you. Locations include the deck of the USS Croaker\, the forecastle (forward deck) of the USS Little Rock\, and near the Vietnam Veterans Monument. Locations may be modified for time and/or accessibility limitations. Tours of the ships will not be available. \nPhotos can include any number of people and there is no limit on the number of photos taken. Your appointment time is yours alone and will be strictly enforced. Your group will be the only one in your selected timeslot to ensure everyone’s safety. SUMMARY:Virtual Paint and Draw Night
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the Navy’s birthday\, we invite veterans to join a virtual tour of maritime-themed artworks and an artmaking experience presented by the Albright-Knox and the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park. Participants will learn some introductory drawing and painting skills that center around the power of nature and the beauty of the sea\, inspired by Sandra Cinto’s Tempest in Red\, 2009\, and other works from the Albright-Knox’s collection. Artists of all levels of experience are welcome. Bring a pencil\, pen\, or whatever you like to draw with; some watercolors\, markers\, or crayons for painting or coloring; and some paper. \nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required. DESCRIPTION:  \nOne Life – One Flag \n“A tribute to those we will always carry\, and to those we can no longer hold.” \n  \nThese words are etched into the Battle Within Monument at the Buffalo Naval Park\, which recognizes Veterans who have taken their own lives due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s also meant to be a touchstone for those who still struggle\, as well as for their families and caregivers. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe outbreak of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus has impacted operations and planning for the 2020 season\, including our annual Memorial Day commemoration\, but we are pleased to announce a collaboration with The Battle Within Foundation to honor those who have fallen but will never be forgotten. \n  \nThroughout Memorial Day weekend\, 7\,300 flags will blanket the grounds of the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park to represent the United States Veterans who have lost their battle with PTSD. From May 23-25\, drive by the Naval Park to see the installation and please wear a mask and maintain social distancing if you choose to walk through the grounds. No facilities or restrooms will be available. \n  \nIf you wish to make a $20.20 or greater donation to help the Buffalo Naval Park and the Battle Within Foundation\, you will receive one of the flags from our Memorial Day weekend salute along with a certificate.
