DESCRIPTION:Welcome Home Event for All Veterans \n13th year Anniversary \nVA Western New York Healthcare System will host its annual welcome home event and memorial ceremony on Saturday\, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The event\, held for the 13th time since 2004\, will take place at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park\, One Naval Park Cove\, Buffalo\, New York. \nA memorial ceremony will be held at noon with a reading of the names of local Service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country during the Post 9/11 conflict era. \nOpen to all Veterans and their families\, activities include refreshments\, a car cruise\, tours of the naval ships\, and activities for children. Veterans will have the opportunity to enroll in VA health care and also receive information about Veterans benefits\, to include cemeteries.  VA health care and benefits counselors as well as community agency representatives will be on hand with information on health\, vocational\, employment\, educational opportunities and more.  \n “Our Vietnam Veteran volunteers\, the Pathfinders\, have led the way\, partnering with VA to ensure Veterans are connected to health care and other vital services. SUMMARY:The Battle Within Memorial Service:  Honoring veterans who lost their battle to PTSD
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, May 28\, 2018\, from 10:00AM-12:00 PM at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park\, we will be honoring the men and women veterans who have lost their battle to PTSD. \nThe Battle Within Memorial Service is an effort to get our heads and hearts around the complex issue of the approximately 20+ Veteran suicides per day. It’s meant to be both a fitting military salute to those that have tragically taken their lives\, and a forum for issues related to the well-being of Veterans. \nIn addition to having personal messages by those impacted by Veteran suicide\, PTSD\, and Traumatic Shock\, this event will center on educating the public as well as providing resources available from the VA and community partners. \n\nWe will also be unveiling a permanent memorial proposed for inclusion along Buffalo’s Inner Harbor.
